Aircraft Parts for Builders

Sooner or later, a builder will need an awkwardly-shaped part for their aircraft.

Often, a special part which would be impossible to make, using conventional prims.
This is certainly the case with my own aircraft.

When I started making my own custom sculpted parts, I realised that other builders might also need the same sort of parts. That is when I began to stock commonly used bits, with an aviation theme: Engines, landing gear, propellers etc.
Items which could be re-used, on many different designs, making them a worthwhile investment.

This is the range of components currently available. All of them are full-perm (with certain reasonable terms of use).
There’s also a few items which have been retired from sale – but available if requested.

Most pilots are going to need a seat to sit in (unless there are sit targets in other prims). I grew tired of seeing the same old ubiquitous chopped-up sphere seat, so I made this sculpted one. Mine is fairly simple – made with SculptCrafter – but it does the job, for just 1 prim. It even includes the control stick.

UPDATE: Another pilot seat is now available, also with control stick. Pre-textured (without logo this time) it also includes a matching passenger seat.

Next, is the landing gear. I’ve various kinds available, which may be used on lots of designs.

Spitfire landing gear – specifically designed for this aircraft but potentially useable on other warbirds.

Spitfire landing gear & exhaust sculpty

Single main gear – multipurpose generic style, for various aircraft.

Landing gear designed for Hawk but could also be used for many other designs.

Airliner landing gear set. Now retired due to LOD issues.

Airliner landing gear set (retired)

Landing gear designed for Enigma, in style of F-16 (also handy for biplane fixed gear). Now retired, due to LOD issues but not usually a problem on Enigma, when retracted.

Biplane/F-16 style gear – (retired)

In addition to full sets of landing gear, I also sell individual wheels – these are available as single or double but are both only 1 prim each. They include a velocity-proportional rotation script, for added realism when you are taxiing.

Next, are the engines. All three are 1-prim sculpties with integrated turbine rotation:
This was my first sculpted engine. Small & simple, as used on the Aquajet.

Small military style jet engine

Another military style jet engine, this time larger and designed for Meteoric.
Also used on Vexation, Polecat & Enigma

Finally, a generic civilian airliner-style engine, for anyone building a passenger jet.
This one is featured on my D-1000 private jet.

Moving away from jet propulsion, we have some propellers. These have recently been updated with a brand new sculpty – gives a nice profile and a realistic twist to the blades.
In addition to providing thrust for your aircraft, it would also make a great-looking display piece, mounted on the wall in your home.

Propellers – wooden and polished metal

As an alternative to the prim propellers, there’s also a 3-bladed version which uses UUID textures.
The buyer gets a control script, (copy/trans/no mod) which starts/stops, controls speed (gradual startup/slowdown) & calls the necessary prop texture (static and moving) at the right time.
All the buyer needs to do, is drop the control script into a fresh cylinder prim, then provide ‘start & ‘stop’ commands from aircraft. Everything else is taken care of, by the script. The silver spinner shown, is included (full-perm) with prop but is also available for sale seperately.

As for what’s going to be available in the future, you’ll just have to wait and see.
One thing I’ll definitely be trying to make available – something I wish I could’ve bought off the shelf – is WINGS.
Not tapered prims, which distort textures horribly – but proper pairs of ready-to-use, 1-prim sculpted wings, with a credible airfoil section.
